Chennai, Ma 31 (UNI) A notorious rowdy was shot dead in an encounter
with the police on Monday evening, after he opened fire at the cops and
tried to escape, on the Outer Ring Road near a forest area in Madurai
district of Tamil Nadu.
Police sources said the rowdy, identified as Subash Chandra Bose, was
cited as the main accused in the recent murder of another historysheeter
'Glamour' Kali at at Thanakankulam Mottamalai area in Madurai.
Two special police teams formed to crack the Kali murder case, had already
arrested seven accused in the case and was looking for the whereabouts of
Bose.
After ascertaining his hideout to a forest area on the outskirts of Madurai city,
they zeroed him near the Ring Road.
When they tried to arrest him, he opened fire against the police and tried to flee.
Police opened fire in self defence killing him on the spot.
Police recovered deadly weapons, including sickles and the pistol used by Bose
from the spot.
His body was shifted to Government Rajaji Hospital for autopsy.
Senior police officials visited the encounter spot and held a preliminary inquest.
Further investigations are continuing.
