Odisha CM suggests implementation of e FIR,e Summons,e Evidence system

Bhubaneswar, May 7(UNI) Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has emphasized on Zero FIR and suggested the implementation of e-FIR, e-summons, e-evidence systems.
This will make the justice delivery system easy, simple and expedited,Majhi said while reviewing the implementation of the country's three new criminal laws at Lok Seva Bhavan on Wednesday
The Chief Minister has suggested connecting jails, hospitals, forensic labs, courts through video conferencing.
This will enable witnesses to give their testimony from wherever they are.
He said the investigation and justice delivery system should be done in electronic mode wherever possible.
The Chief Minister said that modern mobile forensic vans should be deployed to improve the forensic system.
It was reported from the meeting that 32 mobile forensic vans will be deployed in the state soon.
Majhi had directed that no officer below the rank of SP should supervise cases of mob lynching, extremist activities and organized crime.
The meeting stressed on strengthening the police, jail, prosecution and judicial systems for the effective implementation of the new law.
According to the meeting, more than 98 percent of the police personnel and officers have been trained on the new criminal law and steps are being taken to use modern technology for efficient investigation.
Forensic labs are being upgraded and 247 additional posts have been created for forensic and cyber forensic experts.
Similarly, 100 percent of the prison department staff have also been trained on the new law.
Steps are also being taken for video conferencing in jails. Similarly, 267 additional posts have been created in the prosecution cadre and it has been reported that changes will be made in the Odisha prosecution rules as per the BNSS Act.
The Chief Minister said that if all the institutions involved in the justice system are efficient, the justice system will be expedited and justice will be provided to everyone.

Shillong, May 7 (UNI) In the wake of Operation Sindoor, the Border Security Force (BSF) has raised the “bar of alertness” at the India-Bangladesh border in Meghalaya sector.
“We have raised the bar of our alertness at the borders. Currently I am at the border reviewing the security arrangement. We have complete night dominance at this difficult terrain,” Inspector General of BSF, Meghalaya Frontier, O P Upadhyay told UNI.
