Odisha, first state to provide On-Call Artificial Insemination for Dairy farmers to boost milk production

Bhubaneswar, Apr 3 (UNI) Odisha has become the first state in the country to provide an on-call Artificial Insemination (AI) service, marking a significant milestone in dairy development and enhancing milk production across the state.
Dairy farmers in Odisha can now receive timely assistance for animal breeding services, including on-the-spot artificial insemination for their cows and buffaloes. They can avail themselves of this service from the comfort of their homes, official sources said on Thursday.
The Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Department has urged dairy farmers and cattle owners to take full advantage of the toll-free number 155333 to book an artificial insemination service for their dairy animals.
Under this system, when a farmer calls, their name is registered for the service. AI workers in the locality are then instructed to perform the artificial insemination, and the process is completed using an OTP-based verification system.
Notably, the on-call AI service also facilitates efficient tracking and monitoring of breeding-related issues in dairy animals.
Through this initiative, the state government has reaffirmed its commitment to modernizing dairy farming and increasing milk production in Odisha.
In recognition of outstanding service, ten Artificial Insemination workers from Odisha were awarded for their excellence in on-call AI services during the recently concluded state-level Fisheries and ARD Fair – Matsya-Pranee Samavesh Odisha (MPSO) 2025.
The Fisheries & Animal Resources Development Department is also working to extend this service to other districts soon.
