Pakistan violates ceasefire for seventh consecutive night along LoC in J&K

Srinagar, May 1 (UNI) Pakistan Army resorted to unprovoked small-arms fire during the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday across the Line of Control (LoC), targeting scores of Indian posts in Jammu and Kashmir, marking the seven consecutive day of such firing.

The latest ceasefire violation happened despite directors general of military operations of India and Pakistan reportedly spoke on hotline on Tuesday. The frequent ceasefire violations over the last week threatens the February 2021 ceasefire agreement along the 740 km long LoC between the two countries

Army said last night the posts were targeted opposite Kupwara, Uri in Kashmir and Akhnoor in Jammu.

“During the night of 30 April-01 May 2025, Pakistan Army posts initiated unprovoked small-arms fire across the Line of Control opposite Kupwara, Uri and Akhnoor in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. These were responded proportionately by the Indian Army,” Army said.

The ceasefire violations along the LoC have been on the rise since the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people, including 25 tourists.

The latest cycle of ceasefire violations began on the night of April 24–25 in the Nowgam sector of Kupwara district and steadily intensified over the following days.

On April 25–26, Pakistani troops opened fire across multiple sectors along the Kashmir LoC.

The violations escalated further between April 26–27, with Indian positions targeted opposite Tutmari Gali in Nowgam and Rampur in the Boniyar Uri area of Baramulla.

Ceasefire breaches were again reported in Kupwara and Poonch districts on April 27–28, followed by continued hostilities in Kupwara, Baramulla, and Akhnoor between April 28–29.

The most widespread firing occurred on the night of April 29–30, when Pakistani troops initiated unprovoked small-arms fire from across the LoC in Naushera, Sunderbani, Akhnoor, Baramulla, and Kupwara, as well as across the International Border in the Pargwal sector of Jammu.
