Palla Rajeshwar Reddy challenges Cong Govt on loan waiver and education claims

Palla Rajeshwar Reddy challenges Cong Govt on loan waiver and education claims

Hyderabad, Mar 15 (UNI) Jangaon MLA and BRS leader Palla Rajeshwar Reddy has criticised the Congress government for allegedly misleading the public about the farmer loan waiver scheme.

During the discussion on the motion of thanks to the Governor's address, Reddy claimed that despite the government's assertions of a "100 per cent loan waiver," no village in his Jangaon constituency had received complete loan relief. He stated that his constituency comprises 127 villages, and none had witnessed a full loan waiver.

Challenging the government, Reddy declared that if they could prove a 100 per cent loan waiver in any village within his constituency, he would "write his nose on the ground." Additionally, he vowed to resign from his MLA post if proven wrong.

Reddy urged the government to be truthful about the loan waiver status, emphasising that farmers still waiting for relief should not be misled.

He also accused the Congress government of mismanaging the education sector, alleging that 2 lakh student dropouts were recorded during the Congress's 15-month tenure. Furthermore, he criticised the government for failing to allocate sufficient funds to educational institutions.

Reddy highlighted that from 2014 to 2023, the previous BRS government under former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had appointed 30 Vice Chancellors to improve the education system.

Responding to Reddy’s remarks, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka advised him to gather complete information before commenting.

Vikramarka noted that the Congress government had appointed a Dalit Vice Chancellor to the century-old Osmania University. He further stated that the government expects constructive suggestions from Reddy, given his background in running educational institutions.

Vikramarka criticised Reddy for overlooking the Congress government's efforts, including renaming a university after the brave woman Chakali Ilamma and filling numerous posts in educational institutions.
