Provide compensation for crop damage, loss of life within 24 hours: Yogi

Lucknow, May 1 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to ensure immediate compensation within 24 hours for families affected by loss of life due to unseasonal rain, thunderstorms, storms and lightning.
The CM has directed the District Magistrates in the affected areas to visit the sites personally, assess the crop damage and provide timely relief to the farmers. Sudden changes in weather conditions were reported across several districts of U, including Gorakhpur and Basti, where heavy rain, strong winds and lightning caused significant destruction.
Relief Commissioner Bhanu Chandra Goswami said that the weather turned bad abruptly on May 1 in various districts of Purvanchal, causing human casualties and damage to standing crops. "In Gorakhpur, two persons, including old Saurabh (13) and Sushil Devi (52), lost their lives due to lightning. Similarly, in Basti, Ram Charan (60) and his Chandravati (55) died under similar circumstances," he said.
Yogi conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families and directed that financial assistance be disbursed to them within 24 hours.
Under the CM's directives, immediate crop damage surveys have started. Affected farmers will receive compensation within 24 hours to ensure swift relief and support.
