Pune: On-duty RPF constable assaulted at Lonand station, one arrested

Pune, Apr 13 (UNI) One person was arrested on Sunday for allegedly assaulting an on-duty Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable at Lonand railway station in Maharashtra.
Constable Jai Prakash, who was on duty at RPF Outpost Lonand, on Saturday night noticed a man sleeping in a drunken state near the ticket counter.
Upon advising him to return home, the individual became agitated, verbally abused the constable, and left the spot, said a Central Railway press release.
Within 10–15 minutes, the man returned to the station accompanied by his brother and their mother and assaulted him with a pipe and stick, besides raining blows and kicking him.
An injured and bleeding Jai Prakash was rushed to Siddhivinayak Hospital & Critical Care, Lonand. He is currently out of danger and under medical care, the release said..
A case was registered at the Government Railway Police (GRP), Miraj, while the drunken man was taken into custody. UNI SP SSP.
