Punjab govt to include terrorism/war victims in 'Farishte' scheme, procure anti-drone systems for border districts

Chandigarh, May 9 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann announced on Friday to include terrorism/war victims in the 'Farishte' scheme, and to procure anti-drone systems for each of the six border districts to shoot down Pakistani drones which were a menace.

He announced the decisions taken in the cabinet meeting. He said that earlier under the Farishte scheme, free treatment to road accident victims was provided at government as well as private hospitals and the persons who brought road accident victims to hospitals within the golden hour period were rewarded. Now, terrorism/war victims have been included in the scheme.

He said that the Punjab government has also decided to procure anti-drone systems. Mann said that because there was a 532 km long border with Pakistan and their drones were a menace, it has been decided to procure anti-drone systems, which would shoot down Pakistani drones as soon as it reaches on our side.

The Punjab chief minister said that there were six districts on the border and in each district an anti-drone system would be installed.
