Chandigarh, Mar 30 (UNI) In a significant blow to drug trafficking, Punjab Police have arrested three drug smugglers with 14 kilo heroine of market value Rs 98 crore in two separate cases, the state's top cop said on Sunday.
Ferozepur district police intercepted a vehicle at Khosa Dal Singh Wala, resulting in the arrest of Akash from Gowalmandi, Amritsar, and the seizure of 8 Kg Heroin, said Yadav.
The police have registered an FIR, and further investigation was on.
In another case, the Tarn Taran police dismantled a trans-border narco-smuggling network and arrestd two drug smugglers, Hardeep Singh alias Deep and Harjeet Singh, both residents of Thathi Sohal, Tarn Taran. Six kilo of Heroin was recovered from the duo.
Yadav said preliminary investigation revealed the role of Pakistan-based smugglers who sent the contrabands.
Both accused have prior criminal records. FIR under the NDPS Act has been registered, and further investigation was on. UNI GS SSP
