Rajasthan: Inmate who escaped from open jail arrested in Jaipur

Alwar, Apr 30 (UNI) An inmate who escaped from an open jail in Alwar, Rajasthan, about a year ago has been apprehended in Jaipur, police sources said on Wednesday.

According to the sources, Raju (23) is a resident of Imam Chowk under the jurisdiction of the Dalgate police station in Jaipur.

Raju had escaped from the open jail in Alwar on May 3, 2024, while serving a sentence for attempted murder. The police had been searching for him ever since.

Raju has a history of criminal activity, with around nine cases of assault and theft registered against him in various police stations in Jaipur city, and he was wanted in several of these cases.

He was arrested on a production warrant from Jaipur Jail on Tuesday. UNI XC AKT SSP
