Road jam, dead load issue echoes in Bihar Assembly

Patna, Mar 19 (UNI) Bihar Assembly Speaker Nand Kishor Yadav on Wednesday directed the state government to adopt more constructive efforts to solve the road jam obstructions being faced by everyone across the state.

Intervening into the concerns shared by the members of the lower house and in reply to Bihar road construction minister Nitin Navin to a short noticed question of BJP member Amrendra Pratap Singh during the pre-lunch sitting, Yadav said that road jam, dead load and other such issues were matters of common concern.

He further said the members of the house as well as common people were facing problems due to road jams and asked the government how it would solve the obstructions.

He asked the Minister to initiate a more constructive approach for giving respite from the road jams.

While replying to the supplementaries raised by Singh and by some other members including Ajith Kumar Singh, Sanjay Kumar Tiwari alias Munna and Mahanand, the Minister announced that stopping and parking of heavy vehicles were not allowed on any bridge in the state as it affects the capacity of the bridges.

He said that the district administrations have been instructed to comply with the orders.

Outlining details of the long-term plannings and short-term plannings to give respite from the road jams, Naveen said that alternative routes were also being explored for immediate relief.

He said that the administration of the Transport department has also been asked to strictly look into the issues leading to road jams.

Naveen said that the national highway has also been requested to create alternative routes and in addition to this the department was also planning to use a 23-km-long embankment of the Water Resources department as an alternative route to provide relief from road jams near Koilwar bridge and in Bihta.

Through his supplementary, Singh tried to draw the attention of the house towards parking of loaded heavy vehicles in 3 to 4 lines. He said it was being done in connaivance with the police and administration.

Speaking about the obstructions due to road jam on Koilwar Bridge, Singh said that the bridge was continuously under dead load due to parking of the loaded heavy vehicles.

He said it would damage the bridge and stressed the need for immediate steps to save its life.

Singh demanded to fix responsibilities of the road jams on the concerned police stations. He also asked to address the issue of dead loads on the bridges due to parking of loaded heavy vehicles.

The BJP MLA said that the road jams were also due to lack of coordination between the districts and demanded constant monitoring to solve the menace.UNI RS SS
