Rs 35 Cr space voyage ride launched at Wonderla

Bengaluru, Mar 28 (UNI) Wonderla Bengaluru has unveiled Mission Interstellar, India's largest Led-based immersive screen space theatre, promising visitors a next-generation flying space voyage experience.
With a staggering Rs 35 crore investment, this state-of-the-art attraction integrates cutting-edge motion technology, high-tech laser projections, and an expansive immersive screen, redefining amusement park thrills in India, Wonderla Holidays Ltd Executive Chairman and MD Arun K Chittilappilly told reporters in a press conference on Friday.
The launch coincides with Wonderla’s 25th anniversary, a major milestone in its journey of innovation and excellence. Over the years, Wonderla has welcomed over 43 million visitors across its parks, solidifying its reputation as India’s most-visited amusement park chain, he said.
Looking ahead, Wonderla has ambitious expansion plans. Currently, 'Mission Interstellar' is available in Hyderabad and Bengaluru, with the next rollout planned for Kochi, followed by Chennai, Chittilappilly said.
"The attraction will first be introduced in larger parks, with potential expansion to smaller parks like Bhubaneswar in the future. Given the complexity of planning and coordination with multiple agencies, such projects can take two to three years to execute. For instance, planning for Bengaluru’s installation began in 2021," he said.
Wonderla COO Dheeran Choudhary emphasised their commitment to blending education with entertainment.
"We receive a large number of school children visiting as part of their annual excursions. At Wonderla, we run a programme called 'Edutainment,' where we educate through entertainment," he said.
"We already have a popular class called 'Chiku,' which children enjoy and find educational. Now, with the launch of 'Mission Interstellar Space,' we are introducing additional educational elements designed for school students. We have partnered with several external agencies that work with both global and Indian schools to develop this programme. Apart from 'Mission Interstellar,' students can also explore concepts of velocity and motion by experiencing our roller coasters and other attractions," Choudhary added.
Beyond entertainment, Wonderla is committed to sustainability and social responsibility. "We recycle water, use solar power, and prioritise environmentally responsible practices. Our CSR initiatives focus on community development, including improving local schools and hosting underprivileged and specially-abled children for memorable experiences at our parks. These efforts will continue as part of our commitment to giving back to society."
Choudhary clarified that Mission Interstellar is currently included in the ticket price. However, if demand surges and capacity becomes a challenge, a separate charge for multiple entries may be introduced in the future.
Mission Interstellar is designed to immerse guests in a space odyssey with a 22m x 15m curved LED screen housed in a 3,500 sq ft enclosure, simulating a realistic spacecraft journey. The attraction boasts a hydraulic lift seating system imported from Italy, which elevates 60 guests 40 feet into the air, synchronising with high-tech laser projections and environmental effects like wind.
A powerful 46,000-watt sound system further enhances the realism. The ride is set within an eight-storey dome-shaped structure featuring a 23-metre-high roof, a first-of-its-kind in India. Additionally, a 6,500 sq ft air-conditioned preview hall and queue area ensure a comfortable experience for visitors.
The event also was graced by popular actress Ashika Ranganath and Wonderla Holidays Ltd Bengaluru Park head H S Rudresh.
As Wonderla continues to set new benchmarks in amusement and leisure, Mission Interstellar marks a bold step towards the future of entertainment in India.
