Mahoba (UP), Mar 15 (UNI) A 75-year-old man was beaten to death by youths who were in an inebriated state over petty dispute in Kharela area of Mahoba district here in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, a police officer said here.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ravikant Gaur said that the incident took place in Manik locality where a youth named Vijay along with his friends was consuming alcohol at the door of Mohit's house.
"During this they asked Mohit for drinking water," he said.
He said that it is being said that Mohit refused to give them water to drink.
"Enraged with this Vijay and his friends entered the house and attacked Mohit and his family members and beat them fiercely with sticks and kicks and punches," he said.
The DSP said that on hearing the sounds of fighting outside the house, Mohit's grandfather Baba Ram Sanehi came out and tried to calm the dispute by mediating, but Vijay and his friends, who
were heavily drunk, thrashed Ram Sanehi with kicks and punches.
He said that the seriously injured old man was immediately taken to the community health centre by his family for treatment but the doctors declared him dead.
"Ram Sanehi's family has filed a complaint with the police accusing four people of his murder," he said.
