Sikkim CM condoles death of two Army personnel in landslide

Gangtok, June 2 (UNI) Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang on Monday mourned the death of two Army personnel and a porter in a massive landslide in the state's Lachen town under North District.
"Deeply saddened by the tragic landslide in Chaten, Lachen that took the lives of Havaldar Lakhwinder Singh, Lance Naik Munish Thakur, and porter Abhishek Lakhada.
"My heartfelt condolences to their families," the CM said in a message.
He also prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
The CM also praised the rescue teams working tirelessly in harsh conditions.
"This tragedy is a result of severe weather conditions, a stark reminder that natural calamities are beyond our control. I strongly urge everyone to avoid travel at this time and prioritise safety," Tamang said.
The landslides swept away the Army camp in which three died, four were wounded and six remain missing after the disaster following rains on Sunday evening. UNI PC SSP
