Small, medium traders condition worsened after BJP came to power: CPI(ML)

Patna, May 5 (UNI) Communist Party of India Marxist-Leninist (CPI(ML)) alleged on Monday that ever since the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has come to power, the condition of small and medium businessmen has been worsening.
Addressing a meeting of the representatives of the small and medium traders organised here to discuss the situation of the retailers and small vendors here, CPI(ML) state secretary Kunal alleged that ever since the BJP has come to power, the condition of small and medium traders has worsened.
Traditional businesses have been ruined due to Goods and Services Tax (GST) and online business, he claimed and noted that administrative repression of footpath shopkeepers has become common.
He further claimed that the central government has waived off Rs 13 lakh crore of corporate companies but did not provide any relief to small businessmen, following which more than 84 lakh jobs have been lost.
Party MP Sudama Prasad said that small traders were facing the threat of loot, extortion and threats.
and pointed that the recent daylight robbery at Tanishq showroom in Ara city is a glaring example of it.
Traders were not getting security, due to which they are forced to live in an atmosphere of fear.
He alleged that the double engine government has proved to be a double bulldozer government for the class and described the lockdown, demonetisation and economic policies as disastrous for the businessmen.
He said that though vending zone law has been made for footpath vendors, it has not been implemented.
In the meeting it was decided to organise a state-wide business conference in Patna on July 13 to raise the issues of the censor, small and medium traders.
