Smt S Kalyani Prasad cancer research center inaugurated at BIACH&RI with NRI support

Hyderabad, Apr 4 (UNI) The Smt S Kalyani Prasad Cancer Research Center, dedicated to advanced cancer research, was inaugurated on Friday at the Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital & Research Institute (BIACH&RI).
The center has been established with a generous donation of Rs 10 crore from US-based NRI couple Dr Raghavendra Prasad and Smt Kalyani, marking a significant milestone as the institute celebrates its Silver Jubilee.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Nandamuri Balakrishna, Chairman, BIACH&RI, along with Prof K Srinath Reddy, Honorary Distinguished Professor, PHFI; Dr CH Mohan Rao, President, Indo-American Cancer Research Foundation; and other dignitaries including Sri JSR Prasad and the donors themselves.
A traditional pooja was performed before touring the new facility.
During the formal function held at the hospital auditorium, Dr K Krishniah, CEO of BIACH&RI highlighted the institute's ongoing efforts in cancer care.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr CH Mohan Rao emphasised that the new R&D center will bridge clinical treatment and fundamental research with a focus on precision medicine at affordable costs.
Nandamuri Balakrishna expressed gratitude to the donors and expressed hope that the new center would become a beacon of hope for cancer patients in India through innovative research.
Chief Guest Prof K Srinath Reddy stressed the importance of extending cancer care to primary health centers and encouraged the establishment of an integrated care model. He also called on researchers to explore cost-reduction strategies in cancer treatment, a hospital statement said.
