Telangana CM directs Education Commission to draft comprehensive policy for sectoral reform

Hyderabad, Apr 4 (UNI) Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday directed the Education Commission to prepare a comprehensive and practical policy document aimed at transforming the state's education system.
He emphasised that cost should not be a barrier when it comes to building a better future through education.
Chairing a review meeting at the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) here, the Chief Minister stressed the need for field-based insights in policy development and actionable reforms.
He reiterated his government’s commitment to strengthening the education sector through initiatives such as teacher appointments, Amma Adarsha Committees, timely distribution of books and uniforms, and the establishment of Young India Integrated Residential Schools and Skill Universities.
CM Revanth Reddy underlined the critical importance of early childhood and primary education, stating that a strong foundation at this stage is key to improved academic outcomes in higher education.
He called for wider consultations with educators, experts, and community stakeholders, especially on reforms at Anganwadi and primary school levels.
Education Commission Chairman Aakunuri Murali presented insights from educational models across other Indian states and countries, highlighting successful policies in primary education.
Dr Jayaprakash Narayana, General Secretary of the Foundation for Democratic Reforms, spoke about how past educational reforms have impacted students’ creativity and suggested urgent reforms in the examination system, school inspections, and life skills training.
The meeting was attended by Chief Minister's Advisor Vem Narender Reddy, State Advisors Kesava Rao, Srinivasa Raju, CM’s Secretary Manik Raj, OSD Vemula Srinivasulu, Education Secretary Yogita Rana, Director of Primary Education Narasimha Reddy, Education Commission members Prof. P.L. Vishweshwar Rao, Charakonda Venkatesh, K. Jyotsna Shiva Reddy, and several NGO representatives, an official statement said.
