Hyderabad/ New Delhi, Apr 5 UNI) In a major boost to regional connectivity, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has given the green signal for starting civil aviation services at the Adilabad Air Force Airport.
This marks a crucial step toward realising the long-standing demand of the people of Adilabad for an operational airport.
In a statement here on Saturday, Union Minister and BJP Telangana State President G Kishan Reddy, who played a key role in pushing this initiative, expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, and Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu.
He confirmed that an Air Force Training Institute will also be established at the site, alongside civil aviation operations.
Reddy emphasised that this development, under the UDAN scheme, will enhance connectivity and trade, particularly in agriculture-rich Adilabad. He also reiterated the importance of swift land acquisition by the state government to expedite the airport's infrastructure development.
This move reflects the Centre’s commitment to strengthening aviation infrastructure in Telangana, with similar progress underway for Warangal airport as well.
