Tapioca products to reduce use of harmful chemicals in textile industry

Kochi, Mar 25 (UNI) Bio-Aryavedic Naturals, a Kerala-based startup, is making significant strides with its innovative bio-polymer products derived from tapioca adhesive.
Founders Vineetha A K and Arun Bhaskar credit the support and funding from Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) for playing a crucial role in their journey from research to market success.
Unlike traditional starching methods, the company's flagship product, Albedon Fabric Ironing Stiffener Spray, is a game-changer.
Designed for easy application during ironing, it not only provides stiffness but also enhances fabric shine, durability, and hygiene. Additionally, the bio-polymer forms a protective coating on fabric fibers, shielding garments from dust and harmful microbes.
Vineetha highlighted the significance of adopting green chemistry techniques to extract the bio-polymer sustainably without the use of harmful chemicals.
This eco-friendly innovation not only reduces chemical usage in textile manufacturing but also minimizes environmental pollution.
The spray’s photocatalytic activity is particularly significant, as it absorbs greenhouse gases and converts them into oxygen, purifying the surrounding air.
Albedon has successfully completed testing at the Central Government's Textile Testing Laboratory. Clinical evaluations at the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology in Thiruvananthapuram further validate its safety and efficacy.
The product is now available globally through Amazon under the brand name Albedon 3-in-1 Fabric Stiffener Spray, receiving positive market feedback.
Arun Bhaskar, the Chief Technology Officer, expressed satisfaction with the initial consumer response. He also acknowledged the support from KSUM during the startup's developmental phase.
Bio-Aryavedic Naturals has earned national acclaim by securing a top-five position at the Naaripreneur For Her program by IIM Visakhapatnam, standing out among 155 startups from 24 states.
Additionally, the company has received recognition from NBCC India and was selected by IIT Madras as one of the startups to present their innovation at the Bharat Tex 2025 Global Textile Event in New Delhi.
