Hyderabad, Mar 30 (UNI) The Telangana Government celebrated Sri Vishwavasu Nama Ugadi with grandeur at Ravindra Bharathi in Hyderabad on Sunday.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy inaugurated the celebrations by lighting the ceremonial lamp.
The event was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, Minister Jupalli Krishna Rao, MLAs Adluri Laxman, Shankaraiah, Mal Reddy Ranga Reddy, MLC Mahender Reddy, Chief Secretary Shanthi Kumari, and other senior officials. Also present were Minister Konda Surekha and MP Anil Kumar Yadav.
Renowned scholar Pandit Bachampalli Santhosh Kumar Sastri recited the Panchangam (almanac) to mark the occasion.
He predicted a year of prosperity, highlighting a continued real estate boom, sufficient rainfall, and a bountiful harvest. He also predicted increased competition between the Chief Ministers of both Telugu states in terms of development.
Additionally, he noted potential water disputes with neighbouring states but expressed confidence that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy would successfully address them. While economic challenges and occasional cyclones or earthquakes might occur, he assured that people would experience financial gains and overall happiness. The government, he said, would strive to attract international investors.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy reiterated his commitment to Telangana’s development, emphasising that he and Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka are working together like "a pair of warriors" to take the state forward.
He praised the state budget presented by Bhatti, likening it to Ugadi chutney—symbolizing a balance of diverse elements. The budget, he said, prioritises agriculture, education for the underprivileged, healthcare, employment, and overall welfare.
The Chief Minister expressed his vision of ensuring prosperity for all and emphasized the need for investments, law and order, and infrastructure development. He spoke about plans to rejuvenate the Musi River and establish a Future City, which would not only be a model urban space but also a hub for investments and employment generation. Acknowledging that development comes with challenges, he reassured that his government is committed to overcoming hurdles.
In a major announcement, he declared that from tomorrow, fine rice (thin rice) would be made available at ration shops. He recalled that during former Chief Minister N T Rama Rao’s tenure, ration rice was introduced to ensure people had access to white rice. Now, the Telangana government has decided to replace coarse rice with fine rice under the ration system. To further support this initiative, farmers cultivating fine rice will receive special incentives.
Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy met Governor Jishnu Dev Varma at Raj Bhavan and extended Ugadi greetings.
The event was attended by Minister Konda Surekha, MP Anil Kumar Yadav, CM Advisor Vem Narender Reddy, and other dignitaries.
