Telangana: Multiple govt officials caught red-handed by ACB

Hyderabad, Apr 22 (UNI) In a sweeping crackdown on corruption, Telangana's Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday arrested multiple government officials across the state in four separate sting operations, exposing a disturbing pattern of bribery in public offices.

An ACB statement on Tuesday said that in Nagaram Municipality, Sudharshanam Raghu, Deputy Executive Engineer, was caught red-handed by the ACB Ranga Reddy unit after demanding a bribe of Rs 1.3 lakh and accepting Rs 1 lakh through two outsourced Work Inspectors, V. Rakesh and V. Suresh.

The bribe was intended to clear bills related to CC road work worth Rs 11 lakh.

The tainted amount was recovered from Rakesh, whose hands tested positive for chemical traces. All three accused were being arrested and produced before the Ist Addl. Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases, Nampally, Hyderabad.

Meanwhile, in Manuguru, Bhadradri Kothagudem District, Inspector of Police Soma Satish Kumar and Big TV reporter Mittapalli Gopi were caught in an unholy nexus.

Acting on the SHO’s instructions, the journalist demanded Rs 4 lakh and accepted Rs 1 lakh from the complainant in exchange for not including the complainant and his nephew in a criminal case (Crime No. 150/2025).

The trap laid by ACB Khammam Range resulted in both being arrested and produced before the III Additional Sessions Judge for SPE & ACB Cases, Warangal.

In another operation, Vineet Kumar, Revenue Inspector at the Tahsildar Office in Chilpur Mandal, Jangaon District, was caught red-handed accepting Rs 26,000 for submitting a field verification report in a mutation file.

The bribe was placed on the rear seat of his car (TS 03 EF 1458) as per his instructions. The seat tested positive in chemical analysis, and Vineet Kumar has been taken into custody. He will also be produced before the III Additional Sessions Judge for SPE & ACB Cases, Warangal.

Additionally, in Armoor, Nizamabad District, N Srinivasa Sharma, a Senior Assistant in the office of the Executive Engineer, Panchayath Raj Division, was caught accepting Rs 7,000 in his office.

The bribe was a reduced demand (initially Rs 7,500) for facilitating the signing of FTO documents. The amount was seized from his table, and Sharma was being arrested and before the II Additional Special Judge for SPE & ACB Cases, Nampally, Hyderabad, the statement added.
