Thailand’s Opal Suchata crowned 72nd Miss World at spectacular event in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, May 31 (UNI) In a dazzling display of talent, grace, and resilience, Thailand’s Opal Suchata Chuangsri was crowned the 72nd Miss World at the grand finale held on Saturday night at the Hitex Exhibition Centre in Madhapur, Hyderabad.
Kristina Piskova, Miss World 2024, crowned Opal Suchata Chuangsri as her successor. Ethiopia secured the first runner-up position, Poland the second runner-up, and Martinique finished as the third runner-up.
Suchata, who hails from Phuket, Thailand, will receive prize money amounting to Rs. 8.5 crore. Her victory has sparked celebrations across Thailand as she has brought international acclaim to her country.
Opal participated in the competition under the campaign slogan "Opal for Her", inspired by her personal battle with cancer. A cancer survivor since the age of 16, she has been actively raising awareness about breast cancer and collaborating with organisations to support victims. She continues to inspire youth to take the lead in creating positive change.
Born on September 20, 2003, in Phuket, she completed her schooling at Kazonkitsuka School and is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Politics and International Relations. Opal began her pageant journey in 2021 and was previously crowned Miss Universe Thailand 2024.
The 72nd Miss World pageant featured contestants from 108 countries. Regional winners included Martinique for the Americas and Caribbean, Ethiopia for Africa, Poland for Europe, and Thailand for Asia and Oceania. Miss India, Nandini Gupta, did not reach the top 8.
The prestigious panel of judges included Miss World CEO Julia Morley, actor Sonu Sood, actor Rana Daggubati, IAS officer Jayesh Ranjan, former Miss World Manushi Chhillar, actress Namrata Shirodkar, and Donna.
Among the prominent attendees were Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, several state ministers, actor Chiranjeevi, and many other dignitaries and celebrities.
