Two arrested for attacking vegetable vendor in Udaipur; shopkeepers protest attack

Udaipur, May 16 (UNI) The police have arrested two individuals in connection with the attack on a vegetable vendor in Udaipur city of Rajasthan on Friday. The incident has led to protests among shopkeepers.
District Superintendent of Police Yogesh Goyal said that the incident occurred in the Dhanmandi police station area on Thursday evening when two youths came to purchase vegetables from Satveer Singh, 52.
A dispute arose over the price of vegetables, and the youths left but returned with six or seven others and attacked Satveer with sharp-edged weapons.
Satveer sustained injuries on his head and face and was immediately admitted to MB Hospital.
The police arrested two youths and identified the others involved, who will be apprehended soon.
The incident sparked protests, and traders closed their shops and set fire to a couple of stalls. The fire was brought under control by the fire brigade.
The Dhanmandi Vyapar Mandal has called for a complete shutdown of the market in protest against the incident.
