Two siblings drown in village pond in Jaunpur

Jaunpur (UP), May 20 (UP) Two brothers drowned while bathing in a village pond in Gaurabadshahpur area of Jaunpur district in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, police sources said here.
Police sources said that Om (13 ) and his younger brother Arjun (12 ), residents of Nayansand village, had gone to take a bath in Dashratha pond of Baghandra village under the Gaurabadshahpur police station area on Tuesday afternoon.
Police sources said that while taking bath, the two brothers slipped into deep water and started drowning. "By the time people nearby ran there to rescue them, both of them had drowned in the water. After a lot of hard work by the villagers and police personnel, both were taken out of the water," they said.
Police sources said that on receiving the information, the police station in-charge, Phoolchand Pandey, reached the spot and sent both of them to the Community Hospital for treatment, where doctors declared them dead.
