Ahilyabai remembered as a social reformer: Arun Singh

Jaunpur (UP), May 20 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National General Secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Arun Singh on Tuesday said that Ahilyabai Holkar's life has always been inspiring, she is remembered as a brave woman, ruler and social reformer.
Attending the 300th birth anniversary celebrations of the queen Ahilyabai Holkar of the Holkar dynasty as the chief guest, Singh said that the life of queen Ahilyabai Holkar has always been inspiring for the country, she is remembered as a brave woman, ruler and social reformer. She not only ruled a large area with great success but also travelled all over India and completed countless works of religious and social reform.
He said that Ahilyabai Holkar had a significant contribution in the revival of all the religious places like Badrinath, Kedarnath, Kashi Vishwanath and the construction of temples, so the BJP is celebrating her 300th birth anniversary with public cooperation through various programmes across the country and is also spreading her works to the masses.
Targeting the Congress, the BJP National General Secretary said that the Congress did not even remember or honour great personalities like Ahilyabai in all these years, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi thought about it, and programmes are being organised across the country.
Special guest regional President Dilip Patel said that Ahilyabai Holkar, born on 31 May 1725 in Chondi village of Maharashtra, belonged to a simple family. "Her father, Mankoji Rao Shinde, was the village head. As a young girl, the combination of her simplicity and good character attracted the attention of King Malhar Rao Holkar of the Malwa region," he said.
