UP: Admissions process of Sarvodaya schools begins

Lucknow, Mar 19 (UNI) The admission process for the academic session 2025-26 has commenced at Jai Prakash Narayan Sarvodaya Vidyalayas, operated by the Social Welfare Department and Tribal Development Department, official sources said here on Wednesday.
Sources said that selection will be done through an entrance exam for vacant seats in classes 6, 7, 8, 9, and 11 in these CBSE-recognised schools. "Interested candidates can apply until March 22," they said.
Sources said that the entrance exam for classes 6 to 9 will be held on March 30 and the results will be announced on March 31. "However, there will be no entrance exam for class 11. Instead, admission will be based on a merit list prepared from 10th-grade marks," they said.
Sources said that there are a total of 70 seats available in classes 6 and 7, with 35 students per section, while admissions to classes 8 and 9 will be based on vacancies. "In class 11, a maximum of 20 students will be selected," they said.
As per the reservation policy, 60 percent of seats are allocated to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, 25 percent to Other Backward Classes and 15 percent to General category students. Besides, 85 percent of the seats are reserved for rural students, while 15 percent are allocated to urban students.
The entire selection process will be conducted under the supervision of the District Magistrate, ensuring transparency and fairness. The preparation and evaluation of question papers will be carried out by the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), following the same process as all Government Ashram System Schools in the state.
The government has emphasised the need for transparency to ensure meritorious students receive high-quality education and equal opportunities. The academic session for all selected students will begin on April 1.
The government has issued strict guidelines to ensure transparency in the selection process, allowing meritorious students access to high-quality education and ensuring equal opportunities for students from all categories.
