UP govt to construct elevated road in Varanasi soon

Lucknow, Apr 1 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government is set to start the construction of a 1.18-km-long elevated road in Varanasi to be developed at a cost of Rs 104.69 crore, official sources said here on Tuesday.
Sources said that the UP State Bridge Corporation Limited (UPSBC) has been entrusted with the responsibility and has prepared a comprehensive blueprint for its execution. "The four-lane elevated road will connect Kasturba Gandhi Vidyalaya on Ring Road to Sarnath Railway Station, significantly easing traffic congestion for tourists and locals traveling to Sarnath. Construction will begin in April and be completed in two years," they said.
Sources said that to facilitate swift execution, the Yogi government has approved the project and released the first instalment of funds. "Currently, a narrow two-lane road is the main route to Sarnath, leading to frequent traffic bottlenecks due to the high volume of vehicles. The new elevated road will enhance connectivity, ensure smoother traffic flow and support tourism," they said.
Sources said that the project will be executed under the EPC, with UPSBC ensuring adherence to high-quality construction standards. "With a clear mandate to complete the project within the stipulated time frame, UPSBC is committed to accelerating development efforts and transforming Varanasi's road infrastructure," they said.
