UP: Martyr soldier Suraj Singh cremated with full state honours

Etawah (UP), May 9 (UNI) Havildar Suraj Singh Yadav, a soldier from Etawah who was martyred on Tuesday when his vehicle fell into a deep gorge while going towards Titwal in the Karnah sector of Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir, was cremated with full state honours on Friday.
Singh's son Vijay Pratap, alias Ajju (8) lit the pyre of his martyred father. Wife Neelam saluted and bid the martyr a final farewell. Army soldiers saluted.
A huge crowd gathered to see the martyr for the last time. Everyone holding the tricolour in their hands was shouting slogans of Bharat Mata Ki Jai and Veer Shaheed Amar Rahe. At 5 am, the body of the martyred soldier was taken for cremation in an army vehicle under the supervision of former Colonel Hayat Ullah, an officer of the Army Welfare Board.
It may be noted that two soldiers were martyred and two others were injured after the vehicle crashed on May 6. Suraj Singh Yadav was also among them. Flowers were showered at many places during the last journey.
Traders kept Chakarnagar and Hanumantpura markets closed in honor of the martyr. During the last journey of the martyr, slogans like 'Jab Tak Suraj Chand Rahega, Suraj Tera Naam Rahega, Veer Shaheed Bhai Amar Rahe' kept echoing.
Suraj Singh was originally a resident of Prem Ka Pura of Chakarnagar tehsil of Etawah district. He joined the Indian Army in the year 2010.
Suraj Singh was married to Neelam, a resident of Akora, in 2009. They have two children. The elder daughter is Sheetal (12) and the son Vijay Pratap alias Ajju. There are two brothers – the elder brother Bharat Singh is a Shiksha Mitra, and the younger one is Kuldeep Yadav.
