Shahajahanpur, May 6 (UNI) Six persons were killed in a head-on collision between a car and a motorcycle in Madanpur area of Shahjahanpur district here in Uttar Pradesh, a senior police officer said here on Tuesday.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajesh Dwivedi said that the head-on collision took place between the car and the motorcycle near a petrol pump in Kabilpul village in Madanpur area late on Monday night.
"In this accident, motorcycle riders Ravi (20), Akash (20), Dinesh (19) and Abhishek (19), all residents of village Nazarpur under Tilhar police station area, Sudhir (40) and Sonu (18), both residents of Kabilpur village under Faridpur police station district Bareilly, sustained serious injuries," he said.
He said that the motorcycle caught fire due to the collision. "While two persons died on the spot, four others who were seriously injured were sent to the medical college by the police. They also died during treatment," he said.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed condolences to the bereaved families of the youths who died in the accident. He has directed the officials to immediately reach the spot and expedite the relief work.
