UP : Two killed, 10 injured as two SUVs collide in Amethi

Amethi, May 6 (UNI) Two persons were killed and 10 others injured in a head-on collision between two Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) in Mohanganj area of Amethi district in Uttar Pradesh, police sources said on Tuesday.

The sources here said that a wedding procession had arrived in the area's Pakad village on Monday night. "People in the wedding procession were dancing and singing on the road when two SUVs in an attempt to save the people collided with each other. "The collision was so severe that many people standing nearby also got hit by the vehicles," they said.

Police sources said that Bhawani Prasad Gupta, a resident of Sindurwa, and Ram Sajeevan died on the spot. "Raju Gupta, Arman, Jagjeevan, Shan, Kanhaiya Lal, Sapna, Gangaram, Rajbhawan, Tejbhan and Govind riding in the SUVs were seriously injured," they said.

The sources said that as soon as the information of the incident was received, the Mohanganj police reached the spot and took all the injured to the hospital.



Mohanganj police station in-charge Rakesh Singh said that so far two people have died. "10 people are injured, who are undergoing treatment in the referral hospital. Legal action is being taken in the case," he said.
