Uttarakhand: Man accused of rape and threatening minor girl arrested in Chamoli

Chamoli/Dehradun, May 20 (UNI) The Chamoli police in Uttarakhand on Tuesday arrested a man accused of raping a minor girl and threatening to kill her if she disclosed the incident to anyone.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Shreevash Panwar said that a written complaint was lodged at Chamoli Kotwali police station on Monday, alleging that Preetam, a resident of Palethi village in Chamoli district, had sexually assaulted the complainant's minor daughter in March. The accused had also threatened to kill the girl if she revealed the incident to anyone.

The police registered a case against the accused under various sections and entrusted the investigation to woman sub-inspector Poonam Khatri. A team led by the Station House Officer was formed to ensure the accused's arrest. The team swiftly apprehended Preetam from his home in Palethi village.

The accused will be presented before the court on Tuesday.
