Woman beaten to death by husband in UP

Jaunpur (UP), Apr 2 (UNI) A woman was beaten to death by her husband allegedly after he did not get money from his wife to drink alcohol in Rampur of Jaunpur district here in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday, police sources said here.
Police sources said that Bachchan Gautam, a resident of Kotigaon village, is addicted to alcohol and used to thrash his wife Manju Devi every day. "On Wednesday morning, Manju went to Jitapur village, to harvest wheat. At around 10:30, her husband Bachchan reached the field and started asking his wife for money to drink alcohol," they said.
Police sources said that Manju said that she did not have any money and would give it to him after coming home. "After this, Bachchan started thrashing her with a brick and then started dragging her to the roots of wheat due to which she died on the spot," they said.
Police sources said that the police have arrested the drunkard husband. "The deceased has a 7-year-old daughter Alka and a 5-year-old son Nikhil," they said.
