World-class memorial of Ahilyadevi Holkar should be built at Mauje Choundi: Bharane

Mumbai, Apr 22 (UNI) Maharashtra Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Dattatray Bharane on Tuesday requested Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis through a representation that a world-class memorial should be built at Mauje Choundi to honor the work and contribution of Rajmata Ahilyadevi Holkar on the occasion of her tercentenary.

Ahilyadevi Holkar was born in Mauje Choundi in Jamkhed taluka of Ahilyanagar district.

A fund of Rs. 500 crore should be made available for this memorial, Bharane mentioned in the statement.
The Dhangar community is a hardworking and culturally rich class that has existed in this country for many years. Along with its contribution to agriculture, animal husbandry and public life, many social reformers, warriors, saints, singers and artists have emerged from this community. The glory of Dhangar culture is its rich tradition of dress, costume, dialect, folk art, music, religious traditions and way of life.

Bharne also expressed his belief that this monument would not only be a cultural monument but also a symbol of a glorious history that preserves the glorious history of Punyashloka Ahilyadevi Holkar, the traditions, lifestyle, folk art, literature, music and documents of historical personalities of the Dhangar community, he added.
