Youth kills father over monetary dispute in Prayagraj

Prayagraj, Mar 21 (UNI) A 65-year-old man was killed by his son allegedly for money in the Kaundhiyara area of Prayagraj district in Uttar Pradesh, police said here on Friday.
Inspector Kuldeep Sharma said that late on Thursday night, Satyam Patel, a resident of Sehra village of Kaundhiyara police station area in Yamunanagar, asked for money from his father Bharat Lal Patel (65), to which the latter refused. "Enraged by this, Satyam killed his father," he said.
He said that the accused was a drug addict. "He was drunk at the time of the incident. There was a dispute between father and son over money. When the dispute escalated, the son killed his father by hitting him on the head with an iron rod. The police have registered a report and arrested the accused," he said.
Sharma said that Bharat Lal has four daughters. "Two of them are married and he had kept the money received from the land sold a year ago safe to marry the other two daughters. There used to be disputes over that money. The accused did not concentrate on studies, due to which the father and daughter used to scold him," he said.
He said that Satyam often used to quarrel with the family members over money. "On Thursday night, the dispute with his father escalated to such an extent that he killed Bharat Lal," he said.
