Los Angeles, June 1 (UNI) The end for 'Stranger Things' is nigh, as Netflix confirmed the release date for its long-awaited fifth and final edition in its cryptic teaser.
Releasing in late December, the finale will arrive in three parts — launching November 26, continuing on December 25, and concluding on December 31.
Created by the Duffer Brothers, the show is returning with its full cast, with actors David Harbour, Winona Ryder, Millie Bobby Brown, Sadie Sink, and Finn Wolfhard reprising their roles. The iconic 'Terminator' star Linda Hamilton is also set to join the show in an as of yet cryptic and enigmatic role.
Set in the autumn of 1987, the final season picks up over a year after the explosive events of Season 4, which saw Vecna, a highly powerful telepath and the leader of all of the Upside Down's monstrosities being weakened and defeated by Eleven, though not before he succeeds in cracking the barrier between the town of Hawkins and the realm of Upside Down, with the nightmares now fully unleashed.
The Duffer Brothers are promising nothing less than a grand spectacle, telling audiences to brace themselves for the final season of the highly acclaimed and famous sci-fi-horror-thriller show.
“We spent a full year filming this season. By the end, we’d captured over 650 hours of footage,” Ross Duffer said, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “It’s like eight blockbuster movies. It’s pretty insane.”
However, the show will also have a deeper and personal angle to it, as opposed to just being a spectacle, with Matt Duffer stating “We think it’s our most personal story.
“It was super intense and emotional to film — there was a lot of crying. The show means so much to all of us. Everyone put their hearts and souls into it.”
Netflix has already teased the episode titles, with intriguing names like 'The Crawl', 'Escape from Camazotz', and 'The Rightside Up'. A small time jump will mark the shift into the final chapter, moving the story from March 1986 to late 1987. UNI ANV SSP
