Voice actor Jonathan Joss dies at 59, fatally shot by neighbour

Texas City, June 2 (UNI) Jonathan Joss, best known for voicing John Redcorn in the acclaimed animated series 'King of the Hill', died at the age of 59 after being fatally shot during an alleged dispute with a neighbour.

Authorities confirmed that Joss was shot and killed on the evening of Sunday, June 1.

Responding to reports of a shooting in progress around 7 pm, authorities found Joss lying near a roadway.

Despite the administration of immediate life-saving efforts, paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

The alleged assailant, 56-year-old Sigfredo Alvarez Cejam, reportedly fled the vicinity in a vehicle but was apprehended shortly thereafter and the investigation is still ongoing, reports PEOPLE.

Joss rose to prominence in the late 1990s when he took over the role of John Redcorn in 'King of the Hill', beginning with Season 3. He took over for the original actor, Victor Arron, in season 3 after he died in a car accident in 1996.

Joss was set to return to the newly announced revival of the hit animated sitcom, which is set to premiere on Hulu in August and has already begun recording.

In what would be one of his final public appearances, Joss attended the ATX TV Festival days prior to his death, joining fellow cast members Pamela Adlon (Bobby Hill), Lauren Tom (Kahn 'Connie' Souphanousinphone Jr.), Toby Huss (Cotton Hill, Dale Gribble) and one of the show's new writers Saladin K. Patterson as they discussed the upcoming project during a panel.

Just hours before his death, Joss posted a video on Instagram talking about how the “reboot is up and moving” as he walked around Austin, Texas.

In addition to 'King of the Hill', Joss was known for his recurring role as Chief Ken Hotate in 'Parks and Recreation', and has also appeared in 'Tulsa King', 'Ray Donovan', 'True Grit', 'The Magnificent Seven', among others.
