101 Lord Jagannath idols sculpted in sand for Rath Yatra at Puri beach

Puri, Jun 26 (UNI) Renowned sand artist and Padma Shri awardee Sudarsan Pattnaik has created a magnificent sand sculpture featuring 101 idols of Lord Jagannath at Puri Beach to mark the occasion of the annual Ratha Yatra.
The artwork portrays the divine trinity- Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra on their grand chariots.
Through this intricate creation, Sudarsan pays tribute to the centuries-old tradition of the Jagannath Ratha Yatra, which is celebrated with deep devotion across India and around the world.
Approximately 4.5 tons of sand were used for the sculpture. Students from his sand art institute collaborated with him to bring the creation to life.
This year’s sand art carries the message 'Jai Jagannath- A Journey of Faith and Unity', highlighting the deep cultural roots and spiritual significance of the ancient festival.
The sculpture has attracted thousands of devotees and tourists to Puri Beach, offering a mesmerizing blend of devotion and artistry.
Sudarsan said he aims to bring the spirit of Lord Jagannath closer to the people and to spread the message of devotion, equality, and unity that the Ratha Yatra symbolizes through his sand art.
