16 Kannadigas return safely to Bengaluru from war-hit Iran

Bengaluru, June 21 (UNI) Sixteen residents of Alipur village in Gauribidanur taluk, Karnataka, who were stranded in Iran amid the ongoing conflict with Israel, returned safely to India and were warmly received at the Kempegowda International Airport here on Saturday.
The group, all from the same village, had been working in Iran when hostilities escalated. They were stuck in conflict zones and faced days of tension and fear, surrounded by the sounds of bombs and gunfire.
Thanks to coordinated efforts by the Indian government and diplomatic intervention by the Indian embassy in Tehran, the workers were evacuated and brought home safely. Their arrival was met with emotional scenes at the airport, where family members welcomed them with flower bouquets and heartfelt relief.
Karnataka MLA Puttaswamy Gowda of Gauribidanur was present at the airport to receive the returnees. Speaking to reporters, he said, “All 16 workers have returned safely and their families are overjoyed.”
One of the returnees, recounting the ordeal, said, “We lived in fear, but never lost hope. We are deeply thankful to the Indian government and the Ambassador in Tehran who coordinated our evacuation.”

Another migrant added, “We were there for six years. The situation became unbearable with the constant threat of violence. This safe return is like a second life for us.”
The returnees also expressed gratitude to the Karnataka state administration for extending support and assistance in ensuring their safe passage back home.
