18-year-old stabbed to death after altercation in Naraina Village, murder case registered

New Delhi, Sep 20 (UNI) An 18-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death following an altercation with an acquaintance in Naraina Village, with Delhi Police registering a murder case and launching an investigation into the incident.
The deceased, identified as Sumit Giri, a resident of Naraina Village, was taken to DDU Hospital in an unconscious condition late Saturday night, where doctors declared him brought dead, police said.
According to the preliminary investigation, the incident took place around 9.30 pm on Saturday when accused Aman and his friend Narsingh were returning to Naraina Village on a motorcycle after going towards Payal Cinema. On the way, they met their acquaintances, Sumit and another Aman, son of Anil Singh.
Police said a verbal exchange began after Aman, son of Anil Singh, jokingly asked Narsingh to address him as “Papa”. The accused, Aman, allegedly threatened him with a knife when Sumit objected, leading to an argument between Sumit and the accused.
Their common friend Sargam subsequently reached the spot and attempted to intervene. During the ensuing altercation, Aman allegedly stabbed Sumit. Sargam also suffered a minor injury while trying to stop the fight, police said.
The investigation further revealed that after the stabbing, Aman allegedly called his younger brother to the spot. The brother allegedly kicked and assaulted the injured Sumit.
Aman then informed Sumit's family about the incident. Sumit's parents reached the spot, after which Aman (son of Anil Singh) and Sumit's father took him to DDU Hospital, where he was declared dead. Police said a murder case was registered at Naraina police station on the statement of eyewitness Aman.
All those involved are residents of Naraina Village and were known to one another, police said. Investigators are examining the individual roles of the alleged assailant and others who were present during the incident to establish the complete sequence of events.
Police said further legal action would be taken against all persons found to be involved in the crime.
