221-foot Ravana effigy, claimed as world's tallest, set for Dussehra burning in Panchkula

Panchkula, Oct 20 (UNI) A gigantic 221-foot Ravana effigy, claimed by organisers to be the world's tallest, is set to be set ablaze in Haryana's Panchkula on Tuesday evening, as part of Dussehra celebrations, with large crowds expected to witness the spectacle symbolising the triumph of good over evil.
The towering effigy, constructed using nearly seven tonnes of iron and 5,000 metres of fabric, has taken artisans more than three months to complete and will be the centrepiece of the celebrations.
According to details shared by the organisers, the massive structure has been designed to create a spectacular visual display during the traditional Ravana Dahan ceremony.
The organisers claim that the 221-foot structure is the tallest Ravana effigy in the world, although the claim has not been independently verified.
Preparations have also been made for elaborate presentations of episodes from the Ramayana, including the battle between Lord Rama and Ravana, before the ceremonial burning of the effigy.
The organisers expect a large turnout of spectators, with the extraordinary height and scale of the structure likely to be the principal attraction.
The ceremonial burning will mark the culmination of the Dussehra festivities, commemorating Lord Rama's victory over Ravana and symbolising the triumph of righteousness over evil.
