25,000 live cartridges seized in Jhajjar; five arrested in interstate arms supply probe

Rohtak, Nov 3 (UNI) Haryana Police's Special Task Force (STF), Rohtak, has seized 25,000 live cartridges and arrested five men in Jhajjar district, uncovering a suspected interstate ammunition supply network involving Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
The seizure was made on Tuesday following a tip-off from Bihar STF. The police searched two vehicles parked near Triveni Dhaba in Rohad and recovered 25,000 cartridges and eight mobile phones. Both vehicles were also seized.
According to police, 24,400 live cartridges bearing the markings KF 7.65 and BMM KF were recovered from a vehicle in which three men were travelling , while another 600 cartridges marked BMM KF were seized from another vehicle in which two men were travelling.
The arrested accused have been identified as Afifuddin alias Munna Khan (49), Asim Rais (33), Sablu Khan (32), Arbaaz Ali (27) and Zeenat (33), all residents of Badaun in Uttar Pradesh. They allegedly failed to produce valid licences or documents for possessing the ammunition.
An FIR has been registered at Assodha police station in Jhajjar under Sections 25(1-B)(a) and 25(8) of the Arms Act.
The operation followed the arrest of a man identified as Laltu and his associates by Bihar STF in Bhojpur district a day earlier, during which around 20,000 cartridges were reportedly recovered.
During questioning, investigators found that Laltu was allegedly in contact with Afifuddin alias Munna Khan and had procured cartridges from him. The information was subsequently shared with Haryana STF, leading to the operation in Rohad.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that Afifuddin allegedly operates Badaun Gun House in the Civil Lines area of Badaun.
Police are also probing a suspected link to Sirsa, where Munna Khan allegedly procured the ammunition consignment from Vijay Goyal, said to be the owner of Mahak Gun House.
The Haryana STF is coordinating with Bihar STF and Uttar Pradesh Police to trace the source and intended destination of the ammunition and identify others suspected to be involved in the interstate supply network.
Further investigation is underway.UNI KK AAB
