Shimla, July 1(UNI) Mandi district in Himachal Pradesh is facing severe devastation due to heavy monsoon rains and multiple cloudbursts.
During the past 15 hours, Sandhole recorded 224 mm of rainfall, Mandi 216 mm, and Pandoh 215 mm, causing flash floods and landslides.
Four people have lost their lives, while four were injured, and 16 others are missing. Rescue teams have saved 287 people, including 233 in Mandi, 51 in Hamirpur, and three in Chamba. Houses, roads, and bridges have been damaged, with 10 homes and 12 cowsheds destroyed.
A key bridge was washed away, and NH-305 remains blocked, leaving many stranded.
NDRF and SDRF teams are working in Karsog, Gohar, and Thunag to rescue trapped residents. In Karsog, a cloudburst killed one person, while in Gohar, nine people are missing after two houses were swept away. Over 100 people were evacuated from Pandoh Market due to rising river waters.
Authorities have urged people to stay safe and contact the toll-free emergency helpline 1077 for assistance. More rain is expected, and relief efforts are ongoing.
