4 killed in road accident on Purvanchal Expressway

Sultanpur, Oct 4 (UNI) Four people carrying the body of a soldier were killed in a road accident on Purvanchal Expressway near Haliapur on the Ayodhya border on Sunday.

The deceased included the soldier's only son, brother, cousin, and the ambulance driver.

The ambulance, traveling at 100 km/h, collided with a truck parked on the side of the expressway.
The impact of the collision was so severe that the ambulance was completely mangled. The cabin was completely crushed. The driver's body was trapped in the steering wheel. A police team arrived at the scene and cut open the ambulance. They then pulled out two bodies badly trapped in the front seat. Two people sitting in the back seat were taken to the hospital, where they also died during treatment.
The family was carrying the body of Subedar Satyawan in an ambulance from Panchkula (Chandigarh) to Deoria.
The deceased have been identified as Subedar Major's only son, Gaurav Singh (18), brother Ram Samjhu (55), cousin Rajan Singh (35), and ambulance driver Jaspal.

According to police, Subedar Major Satyawan, a resident of Rudrapur in Deoria, was posted in Meerut. He had undergone a kidney transplant in Chandigarh. He passed away three days ago in Panchkula. His family arrived in Panchkula to collect his body.
According to family members, Satyavan's brother Ram Samjhu, cousin Rajan Singh, and only son Gaurav Singh left for Deoria with the body in an ambulance at around 4 pm on Saturday. Satyavan's wife Sarojini Singh and daughter Diksha were also accompanying the body in an army vehicle.
On the way, the army vehicle overtook them, allowing the mother and daughter to reach home early.
Sultanpur DM Indrajit Singh said, "Subedar Satyabhan Singh was a resident of Deoria. He was undergoing treatment at the Command Hospital in Chandigarh. He had undergone a kidney transplant. He died three days ago. The driver and three members of his family died in the accident."
