Adani Airport Holdings inks deal with Tata-owned IHCL to develop eight hotels in four cities

Mumbai, Oct 29 (UNI) Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL) officially announced here on Thursday that it has signed a deal with Tata Group-owned Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) to set up and run eight hotels in four cities of India.
Adani Airport Holding has signed a multi-hotel operating agreement for eight hotels with more than 2,000 rooms across Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow and Guwahati, as the airport operator expands its hospitality-led commercial development strategy, according to an official statement.
The properties will operate under IHCL’s Taj, Vivanta, Gateway and Ginger brands, catering to luxury, upscale as well as mid-scale segments.
According to the deal, Adani Airports will develop the hotels, while IHCL will manage their operations.
The projects will cater to business, leisure and transit travellers, with facilities spanning accommodation, dining, meetings and events, wellness as well as recreation.
The agreement comes as Adani Airport City Limited, plans to invest more than Rs 20,000 crore in the first phase of its development programme, covering approximately 22 million square feet across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Jaipur and Guwahati.
The portfolio comprises three Taj hotels, two Vivanta properties, one Gateway hotel and two Ginger hotels.
Mumbai will get a Taj hotel at Terminal 2 of the airport, while Lucknow will get a Vivanta and a Ginger property. Ahmedabad will get a Taj and a Vivanta hotel, which are both in advanced stages of development, while Guwahati will get a Taj, a Gateway and a Ginger hotel.
Commenting on the development, Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL) Director Jeet Adani said the partnership would support the development of airport-linked destinations which combine hospitality with commercial and lifestyle infrastructure.
“Across the world, leading airports are evolving into integrated destinations which serve as catalysts for commerce, tourism and urban growth. Our partnership with IHCL is an important step in this journey, bringing together our hospitality-led mixed-use destinations and India’s leading hospitality company to create world-class hotels across key airport cities with its brands including the iconic Taj,” Jeet Adani said.
“Together, we aim to strengthen the hospitality ecosystem within our Airport City developments and contribute to the long-term economic growth of the regions we serve,” Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL) Director Jeet Adani stated.
According to the statement, Adani Airport City Limited plans to develop a land bank of more than 655 acres across eight airports in seven states, including nearly 440 acres in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.
The first phase will cover six cities, with the company seeking to bring hospitality, retail, business and leisure infrastructure closer to airports.
“At Adani Airports, our ambition extends beyond operating airports to developing vibrant Airport Cities that bring together hospitality, business, retail and leisure, while enhancing the overall passenger and visitor experience,” Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL) Director Jeet Adani said.
For Tata Group-owned IHCL, the agreement will strengthen its multi-brand presence at major aviation hubs.
The company currently has a global portfolio of 660 hotels, including 274 in the pipeline, across four continents, 15 countries and more than 300 locations.
IHCL MD & CEO Puneet Chhatwal said that airport-centric developments are becoming important commercial and hospitality hubs since India has strengthened its position in the global aviation market.
“Our partnership with Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL) brings together two leading Indian companies with a shared vision to build India’s travel and tourism sector,” IHCL MD & CEO Puneet Chhatwal said.
The eight properties would address the needs of business and leisure travellers across hospitality segments, he said. “With these additions, IHCL will have 25 hotels across its brandscape at key airports in India,” IHCL MD & CEO Puneet Chhatwal said.
