Agri-Machinery Portal to reopen on September 22 in Himachal under SMAM

Shimla, September 19 (UNI) The Agri-Machinery Portal will reopen on September 22 hours for the financial year 2026-27, providing farmers in Himachal Pradesh an opportunity to apply online for agricultural machinery and equipment under the Sub-Mission on Agricultural Mechanization (SMAM).
An Agriculture Department spokesperson said the portal would remain open for applications till September 30.
Eligible farmers can apply through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) portal, agrimachinery.nic.in, for machinery and equipment covered under the scheme.
The spokesperson said beneficiaries would be selected through an online lottery scheduled to be conducted on October 1. The selection process would be carried out online to ensure transparency in the distribution of benefits under the scheme.
Small and marginal farmers, Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe farmers and women farmers would be eligible for a 50 per cent subsidy on agricultural machinery and equipment, as per the scheme provisions.
The department has advised farmers to carefully check the approved machinery models and purchase equipment only from firms registered with the Government of India.
The spokesperson cautioned farmers against purchasing machinery from unregistered firms or opting for models that are not approved under the scheme, as this could lead to inconvenience in availing the subsidy.
The reopening of the portal is expected to provide eligible farmers an opportunity to access financial assistance for mechanisation, which can help improve the availability and use of agricultural machinery at the farm level.
The Agriculture Department urged eligible farmers to submit their applications within the stipulated period and follow the prescribed procedure for availing the benefits.
