UP NEDA stresses faster loan disbursement under PM Surya Ghar scheme

Lucknow, Sep 19 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) has directed banks to expedite the processing and disbursement of loans under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana to accelerate the installation of rooftop solar systems across the state.
An important review meeting was held under the chairmanship of UPNEDA Director Ravinder Singh with representatives of major public sector banks, the Rural Electrification Corporation (REC), State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC) and other stakeholders to review the implementation of the scheme and address issues affecting timely loan disbursement to eligible consumers.
Singh directed banks to minimise unnecessary rejection of loan applications and ensure timely processing and approval of applications submitted by eligible consumers. He said approved loans should be disbursed promptly to prevent delays in rooftop solar installations.
He also instructed banks to regularly review pending cases on a bank-wise basis and resolve them at the earliest. The meeting reviewed the status of pending loan applications, approvals, documentation and loan disbursements under the PM Surya Ghar scheme.
Procedural issues related to the PM Surya Ghar portal and Jan Samarth were also discussed, with officials directed to resolve such issues on priority. The meeting emphasised stronger coordination between UPNEDA and banks and regular monitoring of pending cases through the SLBC.
REC and other stakeholders were requested to assist in resolving practical issues arising during the banking and loan-processing stages.
UPNEDA said its objective is to ensure easy, transparent and timely access to loans for every eligible household seeking to adopt rooftop solar, thereby accelerating the implementation of the PM Surya Ghar scheme in Uttar Pradesh.
Representatives of major public sector banks, including State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, Punjab National Bank, union Bank of India, Canara Bank, Bank of India, Central Bank of India, Indian Bank and UCO Bank, along with representatives of SLBC and REC, attended the meeting.
