AHINDA outfits protest omission of Yathindra’s name from Dasara ads

Mysuru, Oct 22 (UNI) AHINDA organisations on Thursday stepped up their protest over the omission of district in-charge Minister Yathindra Siddaramaiah’s name from government advertisements for Mysuru Dasara and Vijayadashami celebrations, alleging a violation of protocol and an attempt to sideline him.
The protesters, representing Backward Classes, Minorities and Dalits (AHINDA), staged a demonstration at Ramaswamy Circle, demanding action against those responsible for the omission.
The demonstration, led by KS Shivaram, State president of the Karnataka State Backward Classes Awareness Forum, also targeted the police over the alleged obstruction of Dalit Ministers Shivaraj Tangadagi, PM Narendraswamy and KS Basavanthappa during the Nandidhwaja pooja, a key ritual of the Mysuru Dasara festivities.
The protesters alleged that police personnel prevented the Ministers from proceeding to the enclosure designated for the ritual, describing the incident as an affront to the elected representatives. They expressed solidarity with the Ministers and demanded accountability.
Shivaram also criticised the police for preventing Jetti wrestlers from entering the Mysuru Palace premises, resulting in the cancellation of the traditional Vajra Mushti Kalaga, a wrestling event associated with the Vijayadashami procession of the Wadiyar royal family.
He further alleged that journalists were obstructed by the police on the palace premises on Wednesday, raising concerns over the handling of security and protocol during the prestigious cultural event.
The AHINDA organisations said they would stand by the affected Ministers and called for action over the alleged lapses during the Dasara celebrations.
