Ailing Meghalaya legislator airlifted to CMC, Vellore

Shillong, May 24 (UNI) Suspended Voice of the People Party (VPP) legislator in the Meghalaya assembly, Adelbert Nongrum, was airlifted to Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore in Tamil Nadu on Saturday, his family members said.
Nongrum was admitted in the Dr Hughes Gordon Roberts Hospital here and underwent surgery a week back to remove a stone from his gallbladder.
“Doctors at Roberts hospital referred Nongrum to CMC, Vellore as his condition worsened and showed little sign of improvement,” a family member said.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, Health and Family Welfare Minister, Dr Mazel Ampareen Lyngdoh, Leader of Opposition Dr Mukul Sangma, VPP president Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit and others had visited Roberts hospital to enquire the well-being of Nongrum.
