Akhilesh Yadav appeals against inviting certain religious storytellers to programmes

Lucknow, Nov5 (UNI) Samajwadi Party (SP) National President Akhilesh Yadav has appealed to organisers and sponsors of religious programmes not to invite certain religious storytellers, in an apparent reference to Dhirendra Shastri.
In a lengthy post on social media on Thursday, Yadav, without naming anyone, criticised certain storytellers, alleging that they use religious platforms to make controversial remarks and gain cheap publicity.
"Regarding such people, the government and administration, as well as organisers and sponsors of their programmes, are requested to stay away from these so-called storytellers," he wrote.
He alleged that some individuals, despite presenting themselves as religious storytellers through their speech and attire, were primarily driven by material gains. "Such people constantly speak nonsense to gain cheap popularity. Money is their religion," he said.
Yadav further cautioned programme organisers and sponsors against associating themselves with controversial remarks made by such personalities, saying they could face public backlash in their respective localities.
He said that while such individuals might enjoy political patronage, the organisers and sponsors would have to face the social consequences of inviting them. Their association with such personalities could create resentment among local devotees and damage their social, economic and political standing, he added.
"Their image will be branded as anti-religious and anti-God in the eyes of the public. In simple terms, they will face a 'payback', and their entire political agenda will be thwarted," he said
The SP president also urged organisers not to promote individuals whom he accused of creating divisions in society and between people and Sanatan Dharma.
Instead, he called upon them to invite knowledgeable and compassionate speakers with a deep understanding of Vedic and Upanishadic literature and the messages of India's epics.
"Our country boasts numerous true thinkers and orators who are oceans of Vedic and Upanishadic wisdom and Himalayas of the heights of the epics' messages," he wrote, urging organisers to give such individuals a platform.
