Amit Shah to join BJP's Nov 5 padyatra in Karnal amid political row over SIR

Karnal, Oct 25 (UNI) union Home Minister Amit Shah will participate in a BJP padyatra in here on November 5 as the party steps up its campaign against opposition allegations concerning the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
Shah is scheduled to arrive here at 10 a.m. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, union Minister Manohar Lal and several senior BJP leaders are also expected to join the march.
The event is part of the BJP's statewide "Loktantra Bachao, Bheedtantra Hatao" (Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy) campaign, launched on October 22 to counter what the party describes as misleading opposition propaganda against democratic institutions and the electoral process.
Haryana BJP president Dr Archana Gupta visited Karnal on Sunday to review preparations for the high-profile event.
She held separate meetings with the district core committee and organisational functionaries at the party's Karna Kamal office before inspecting the proposed venue in Sector 12.
The discussions focused on the padyatra route, mobilisation of party workers, invitations, security arrangements and coordination among organisational units.
The November 5 programme is scheduled to mark the culmination of the BJP's 15-day campaign, which includes public meetings, door-to-door outreach and discussions on electoral transparency.
The campaign comes amid a continuing political confrontation over SIR, with Congress questioning the exercise and raising concerns about voter exclusion, while the BJP maintains that accurate electoral rolls are essential for free and fair elections.
Party leaders are finalising the march route and other arrangements ahead of Shah's visit.
